WALKSCAPE BESÒS
In March 2018, we organised the Walkscape Besòs workshop, a participatory walk to draw narrative maps from the estuary of the river Besòs to Santa Colona de Gramanet. Collectively and by means of walking, we experimented different ways of interpreting a territory as complex as the one surrounding the Besòs and the relationship between the urban and natural environment.
The goal was to involve citizens of Barcelona and the neighbouring areas of the Besòs and walk along its shores talking about the idea of urban sustainability and the complexities of the Besòs river. During the walk, each participant used different methods to gather information: pictures, drawings, new technologies, object collection and writings.
30 original maps are the result of this participatory workshops carried out during the development of the project. From 2017 to 2019, we collected 120 maps.
The maps have a QR code, this has allowed the disclosure of the map to the citizens.
Each person had the opportunity to download this map, print it and make their own route. Many people have sent us the result, this has created an active exchange and a collaborative creative process.
